Types of transmission

There are 2 types of transmission for you to be familiar with:

Wired networks

Wired networks are generally connected with ethernet cables. These are twisted pair copper cables that transmit data as electricity. Wired networks are generally used in places like schools and offices where the position of devices is fixed.

Wireless networks

Wireless networks use radio waves to transmit data to and from devices that are within range of the wireless access point. These signals are subject to interference from walls and furniture.
